Siamo Qui!

Monika Iris, our German fireball of a driver, met us at the airport (FCO) to drive us to Tuscany and within only a few minutes a cabby honked at us and expressed his feelings with a classic Italian gesture.  Monika simply responded "Silly Romans."
Like I said, "Siamo Qui!" We are here!

The lack of sleep induced jet-lag and the precision at which Monika hugged the "bike paths" of the Tuscan countryside quickly turned elation into nausea, but a step out of the van and a peek through the row of cyprus trees validated where we were... Tuscany.
After a quick wine tasting at il castello, we headed off to meet our new amiche... Fernando of Montefioralle Chianti Winery.

Fernando was quick to lay out the red carpet in the form of meat, cheese, and of course wine!
As if the ambiance underneath the canopy wasn't enough, we could always fall back on the view.

Everyone identified their favorite vintage and\or blend of Fernando's offerings, so after a quick ride on Fernando's Lamborghini, we headed into the town of Montefioralle.

After a short walk to Fernando's shop, a case of wine was in the mail.

My third attempt at speaking Italian to a local landed us a nice little table outside of Nerbone in Greve in Chianti.  I enjoyed my first plate of and still my favorite version of trippa (aka tripe)... look it up.
